Better to lose a competition than to lose your fire - Ashish
Winter Olympics just concluded. Like all sporting events, it had it's high and its low. There were so many stories about great comebacks, new heroes emerging, old heroes bidding goodbye, extreme highs and many heartbreaks. While some athletes return home with medals, a larger number of contingent returns empty-handed.
The losses teach us valuable lessons.
Through the poignant stories of performances that fell short, we saw what the human spirit is capable of. Determination in the face of insurmountable challenges. Unbridled joy simply because what you are experiencing. And pride because you are part of something bigger than yourself. Even though they did not have a medal to show for their effort, each athlete would not trade a single moment of competing despite the low odds of winning.
It is this drive that can make this world a better place. At work or in personal life, how we show up is more important than the win/loss ratio, profitability/loss balance sheet. How we pour our heart into our work and relationship defines us. Success will come, but no one is going to hit a home run every time. So dig deep. Work hard. Pour your heart into your work/passion. Magic will happen.
And when you doubt, remember the joy of pure effort is bigger than any outcome or anyone.
