Happiness is personal and has nothing to do with anyone or anything else. - AB
Twenty-three years in my professional role and I love waking up for work. I am the ‘Thank God It Is Monday’ guy. My friends and family often think I am crazy. The reality is, I am deeply in love with my job.
But before you understand my passion, please note that I did not say I love a particular role or company. I have been blessed with great job opportunities, employers, colleagues, and roles. I have enjoyed my journey through various leadership roles and organizations.
One more thing, my job title includes son, father, friend, sportsman. etc. I am leaving my 'personal job' aside and sharing why I love my 'professional job.'
There is a simple explanation. My professional job is first and foremost a reminder to my boys that hard work is expected and needed to do well at work. We work hard for that is a value we cherish in Bisaria household. Being the right role model is the starting point. I do not want my kids ever to see me unmotivated about work. Not the example I want to set for them.
Next, my job is about solving for current challenges with future solutions. I get to create a new world, albeit small, each and every day of my role. How exciting. Trying new things, learning about new things, looking at a challenge from a new lens, connecting dots, prototyping, launching. How can one not be excited about a job like that?
Finally, I get to work with customers. People who trusted their faith in my product/services. What a great calling to wake up and make sure I deliver in the faith they have placed in us.
Now, I do have bad days at work. I do sometimes wake up demotivated. There have been days when sleeping in sounded like a better option. On days like those, I turn to ‘discipline.’ There are no days off for the willing. Get up, get dressed, and show up!
They also say you do not live to create memories and tell stories by staying in bed. And this storyteller is just getting started writing stories.
I am living ‘my’ dream. Are you?
